Have a stroll through the royal Herrenhäuser Garden

Come visit the royal garden in Herrenhausen, conveniently with public transport or with your car which you can park in one of the best parking structures in Europe. The main styles of garden art can be found in this garden: the baroque garden art in French style, the English landscaped garden and the botanical garden. The large baroque garden was started in 1666 and took its final form of today between 1696 and 1714, created by the electress Sophie. It is one of the few baroque gardens done by Sophie in Europe. The already visible from afar fountain, which shoots water 80 meters up in the air, shows the path to the historical baroque garden. In the north-west there is a historical grotto, designed by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle which was renovated in 2001-2003. Let yourself be amazed - Mosaics of colored glass and mirrors, pebbles, and many painted plastic figures… The Berggarten (Mountain Garden) was created simultaneously with the Large Garden and is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Germany. An estimated 11.000 different plats from different climate zones offer an intriguing experience. Not only is the largest orchid collection in Europe permanently on display here, but the Kakteenhaus (Cacti House) also hosts impressive plants and beautiful flowers.
